‘And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years. And the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. Then you shall sound a shofar sound on the tenth day of the seventh new moon, on Yom haKippurim you cause a shofar to sound throughout all your land. And you shall set the fiftieth year apart, and proclaim release throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It is a Jubilee for you, and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you return to his clan. The fiftieth year is a Jubilee to you. Do not sow, and do not reap what grows of its own, and do not gather from it the unpruned vine. It is a Jubilee, it is set-apart to you. Eat from the field its crops. When Does the Jubilee Begin?
The Day of Atonement (Yom haKippurim) will fall at sundown on October 1, 2025. This is when the shofar is blown — the appointed sign that a Jubilee year has been declared.
In Leviticus 25, the Jubilee cycle is not an abstract “calendar idea,” it begins in the real world with a real trumpet blast. The shofar announces freedom, return, and release — it is Heaven’s command to set captives free.
Some may wonder: does the Jubilee begin immediately after that blast in 2025, or at the civil new year in 2026? Prophetically, the announcement goes forth at sundown on October 1, 2025, but the Jubilee year itself unfolds beginning on Aviv 1 which begins at sundown on April 17, 2026. This means that America’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026 happens in the middle of that Jubilee cycle — the 5th Jubilee since the nation’s founding in 1776.
What a Jubilee Should Look Like for America
A true Jubilee is not a corporate celebration, nor the Vatican’s rebranded festival for 2025.
It is radical obedience to YHWH’s command:
- Debts forgiven — credit cards, mortgages, student loans, national bondage to the money-lenders.
- Possessions restored — families given back their land, homes, and inheritance.
- Return to clans — people regathered to their families and communities, not scattered and enslaved in Babylon’s systems.
- Land resting — fields unworked, production paused, and the ground itself released from exploitation.
Anything less is a counterfeit.

What Happens if the Jubilee is Ignored?
Leviticus is clear: if the land does not receive its rest, it will take its rest by force. History shows this in the exile of Israel — the land lay desolate until its Sabbaths were completed.
If America refuses to honor the Jubilee:
- The economy will not be “reset” by grace, but by collapse.
- The people will not be released by mercy, but scattered by judgment.
- The land itself will groan, and YHWH will vindicate His law.
The question is not whether a Jubilee will come — it will. The question is whether it comes by obedience and blessing, or by rebellion and judgment.
